"This Mithraic altar from the late Roman period in south-west France...".

There is a catalogue with a larger image at the Museum website here. This gives the following information: Acquisition number is 87.1.48. Found at the "Cours Victor Hugo (146) : Bordeaux" in 1986, as part of the "Fouilles de Parunis" (excavations of Parunis). Between 175-225 A.D. H. 105 cm, Br. 58 cm, D. 26 cm. Weight 210 kg.

The item comes from the Bordeaux Mithraeum.
